KARMA or WACKY COINCIDENCE? and a GIVEAWAY!!

Hello and happy October!  For the next 2 weeks it's WORTH THE RISK x 2 around here! Robin Bielman and I are teaming up to celebrate our same titled books and we're giving away $25 Gift Cards. ***** AND a chance to win an Amazon Kindle or a Barnes and Noble Nook.  See our Risky Release Party info below for our Contest WORTH entering!

Karma or Wacky Coincidence?

A few years ago I met a wonderful writer whom I mentored and we became good friends. Last year Robin sold her first book! I was thrilled for her, as she is a great storyteller. She was sweet enough to ask me to give her a quote for her book cover, which I was happy to do. But lately, we've both been wondering if we have good karma, or just a bunch of wacky coincidences?

"A smart, sassy, delightfully sexy romance from talented debut author Robin Bielman" -- quote from Charlene Sands

1. Without our knowledge, both of our books were titled exactly the same and we’re from different publishing houses. The evidence is right before you!

2. Both of our feisty heroines have the same name. Robin's heroine in her Worth the Risk is named Samantha Bennett. My heroine's name is Sammie Gold.

Okay, this is getting a little weird.

3. Robin's heroine is a spunky businesswoman trying to make it in the world of heritage protection and my heroine is a Boston transplant trying to make a success of her business, Boot Barrage in elite Scottsdale, Arizona.

4. Robin has a male editor. And I have a male editor. I don't know the ratio, but there aren't a whole lot of male editors in the romance business.

5. In the entire romance world of authors, Robin and I live within 10 miles of each other and both of us married our high school sweethearts!

Hugs to both of you!

Two of my favorite writers -- seemingly separated at birth! Loved Robin's "Worth the Risk" and can't wait to dig into Charlene's. Congrats on the new release!

Anonymous said...

Okay, this falls in the freaky category. Are you sure you weren't separated at birth or something? Same family tree dating back 300 years? I wish you both great success. Cheers!

This seems to go farther than mere coincidence or karma. I think this might be a conspiracy theory. Will the real Charlene Sands please stand up?

Is Robin Bielman's nickname Charlene?

What do you think?

My stepdaughter and I have TONS of random things in common...

1.) We both had grandmothers named Violet, and both were born in May. 2.) Both of our grandfather's (the Violets' husbands) were born in TN, and moved and worked for GM in MI. 3.) Both men were 2nd husbands to the Violets. 4.) Both said grandfather's died of cancer (5.) both at one point had stomach cancer)--6.) mine on her birthday and her's on my birthday. 7.) We both had grand/great-grandmother's on our father's side with the name Mai. 8.) We are both daddy's girls. 9.) Our dad's middle names are both 'family' names. 10.) Both of our mom's moms were/are selfish women (that's just my personal observation ;-D).

Those are just the random family things. We also have the same taste musically, we both have the same general taste in clothes. She's WAY more like me than she is her mom, which I LOVE!!!! She's 26 now, but she started signing her last name with a loopy 'y' at the end of our last name like I do around a year ago. She always asks my opinion about the important things, including medical, which is funny 'cause she's currently living with her mom and stepdad while working to save up money to get another apartment (she just bought a new car, so she has no money saved up now). Her mom is a medical assistant, while I'm a recreation therapist/physical therapy/sleep tech medical background gal. I helped her pick out her prom dresses and her homecoming court dress. And I know, whenever it happens, that I'll be the opinion she wants when she picks out her wedding dress.
